Wood have been my accountants now for three years. I am a sole trader
and have needed quite a lot of advice on taxation and capital gains
tax. John Wood has been particularly helpful with a lot of knowledgeable
advice enabling me to plan my tax affairs.
My accounts have always been done very quickly which is a bonus and frankly being a fairly small account I have been left waiting by other accountants in the past. Having
ran my own business in the past I quickly discovered the importance
of a reliable accountant. My previous experience of accountants was
a terrible one, dealing with call centres and lost paperwork all the
time. As a result I started a search for an accountant who could provide

I retired in December 2005, I was a director of and 50% shareholder in
an IT company and over a period of twenty years (or more) John's speedy
and knowledgeable advice added strength to many decisions that were key
to the company's ability to successfully and efficiently operate in both
beneficial and challenging trading conditions. When my business partner
and I amicably parted, John was an advisor to the company management as
a whole but his impartial help and advice played a significant role in
a smooth departure, benefitting both the company and me. The buy-out process,
involving a contract with HMRC to protect my access to taper relief, lasted
approximately 2.5 years and John's 'steady hand on the tiller' during

has looked after my tax affairs, directly liaising with HMRC on my behalf;
his advice and accessibility has allowed me to develop and enjoy a new
phase of life safe in the knowledge that important financial obligations
